Meet Hannah Lim, Data Science Associate in the London office
Finding joy for travel, cultural exploration, and staying active
I grew up in Amsterdam and moved to London two years ago. I find it very exciting to live in such an energetic place with so many different types of personalities, nationalities, and cultures living in one city. I love to travel and learn about different cultures (so far, India and Vietnam are my favourites). At the moment, I am mostly exploring the UK, with the Scottish Highlands as my next destination! I also enjoy keeping active, and this year I ran my first marathon in Paris.
From Artificial Intelligence to data-driven consultancy: A natural progression I believe several reasons have led me to choose consultancy. First, I have a strong interest in people and teamwork, and I greatly enjoy working closely with others. Second, although I have a background in Artificial Intelligence, I am particularly interested in how business can apply this knowledge. Finally, I have a continuous desire to explore new things. These factors combined have made consultancy the perfect career choice for me.
Embracing diverse challenges as a Data Science Associate
My current role at Metyis is Data Science Associate. In this role, I have been involved in a variety of data projects, ranging from data engineering to data science. In my most recent project, I enjoyed the combination of data and advisory work where I got the opportunity to learn more about advisory and at the same time contribute my data skills to advisory.
One aspect I find particularly valuable at Metyis is the freedom given to junior members to take the initiative on matters they find important and to be taken seriously in doing so. In this way, we get the opportunity to develop our interests and skills while making meaningful contributions. For me, that has resulted in being active in making efforts to enhance our office culture and considering the development of our team.
Bridging data science and business strategy for meaningful impact
At Metyis, I think it is very valuable that we can offer both data and strategy solutions to our clients. Coming from a data perspective and wanting to apply this knowledge in the real world with a business purpose makes this an exciting space for me. It's fascinating to work with a variety of businesses, some more mature in their data practices than others, and help them develop and grow.
It is often said, of course, and every time I come across it, it rings truer to me: Data is everywhere, and companies must leverage it to stay competitive. However, to truly harness the power of data, business knowledge, clear objectives, and specific use cases are essential. This is where our strength in strategy adds significant value.
