In this edition of One ethos, One culture, Madrid-based Director, Laura Ron, describes her experiences leading teams to innovate digital transformations for financial institutions.

Meet Laura, our Strategy & Execution Director in Madrid

Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Laura and I was born in Santiago de Compostela, a lively and historical city situated in northern Spain. I moved to Madrid when I was a little girl, and later I pursued my BA in Law at ICADE. At university, I started working for Deloitte in Madrid and London as an auditor. After a few years, I decided to move to Consultancy because I craved a more challenging working environment.

I love being with my friends and family in my spare time, especially with my lovely baby girl Amelia.

What is your role at Metyis?

As a Director, my day-a-day role is to manage and organise my projects and teams and scour new project opportunities. I’m also involved in managing internal processes such as recruitment, staffing and several activities related to People’s functions.

What do you like the most about what you do?

What I like the most about what I do is being involved in challenging projects and surrounded by highly qualified colleagues from whom I learn something new every day. Personally, what I think makes Metyis different is the brilliant people that work here.

When did you realize you wanted to leave your mark in the digital transformation field?

In 2019 I got involved in a project to create a fintech for one of the leading Spanish banks. At that moment, I realised the extraordinary impact digital transformation had on banking and how it would change how banking and the traditional financial sector worked. The digital transformation of the financial sector leads us to new challenges and requires that we innovate disruptive solutions that empower our clients to become leading players in the market.

What is your daily source of inspiration?

What makes me move forward and feel highly motivated is knowing that every day will be different and I will have a new challenge to confront alongside my team. I like keeping my mind sharp by looking for new solutions to optimise client performance. Knowing that what you are developing with your team has an impact is rewarding and makes all the effort meaningful.

What advice would you give to a woman who is starting her career?

Stop overthinking and start acting! I think that sometimes we tend to underestimate our capabilities and achievements. Look for a company like Metyis, where you feel supported and challenged to move forward! Pursue opportunities in environments where you would have female role models that can inspire you. At Metyis, you will always find somebody to support you and guide you as you find your way.
